This is the 11th time these teams will square off in the championship round. Boston has won eight of the 10 previous matchups in the finals. The Celtics defeated the Lakers in 1959, 1962, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969 and 1984. However, LA has won the past two meetings, beating Boston in six games in 1985 and 1987.

This is the Lakers first time in the Finals since 2004, while Celtics will be returning for the first time since 1987.
